Handmade French Octagonal Plate - Maison Pichon Uzès

Bring the sunshine of Southern France to your dining table with this beautiful, authentic vintage octagonal plate, also usable as a bowl, from the iconic French pottery brand Maison Pichon from Uzès. Pichon's workshop has been renowned worldwide for its high-quality, handmade ceramics (faience) since the 19th century.

This particular plate dates from the 1970s, a period when this rustic 'countryside' style was immensely popular. The plate has the classic, elegant 8-sided shape and is decorated around the rim with a refined beaded edge (perlé). The rich, warm ocher yellow/caramel-colored glaze (barbotine-style) gives the plate incredible depth, with the glaze beautifully illuminating the raised beads. This timeless design has even served as direct inspiration for popular modern dinnerware sets (such as Studio M's well-known Gâtis series).

On the underside, the plate features the original, authentic hallmarks from this period: the impressed maker's signature "Pichon Uzès" and the separate round stamp "FAIT MAIN" (handmade). A beautiful, rare collector's item for lovers of authentic French mid-century dinnerware!
