Hammered heavily silver-plated Holland Plate tray (1920-1930)
What a stunning piece, and it will look magnificent in your home, displaying your other treasures. This early, heavily silver-plated tray was produced by the Dutch silver manufacturer Hollandia Plate NV of Hilversum (founded in 1919; acquired by GERO in 1963). Given its distinctive hammered finish, this model dates back to the early Art Deco period (1920s/early 1930s).
The silversmith applied the hammered texture to provide extra sturdiness and to conceal signs of wear from heavy use in the hospitality industry. Today, this relief gives the piece a beautiful, robust, and well-loved appearance.
