XXL Bohemia handcut crystal vase

This is a truly exceptionally large example of traditional Bohemian cut crystal.

This heavy crystal vase was manufactured in the former Czechoslovakia and still bears its original Bohemia label. The label indicates that it is hand-cut lead crystal with a PbO content of over 24%.

Bohemia boasts a centuries-old tradition of glass and crystal production. Particularly during the twentieth century, richly cut crystal from Czechoslovakia was exported worldwide. The numerous deep facets served a purpose beyond mere decoration; they ensure that light is refracted through the crystal at constantly changing angles.

This effect is clearly evident in this magnificent, oversized piece. Standing 34.5 cm tall with a diameter of approximately 27 cm, it is significantly larger than most Bohemian crystal vases one encounters. The star-shaped cuts, geometric facets, and distinctively serrated rim lend the vase a rich, classic aesthetic—yet it would look perfectly at home in a modern interior. In fact, it would make a stunning statement piece.

It looks beautiful filled with a massive bouquet, but the intricate cutwork stands out just as impressively when the vase is displayed without flowers.
